John Haynes

John HaynesDr. John Haynes, a research chemist with broad experience in STM publishing, is Vice President, Publishing at the American Institute of Physics. He has responsibility for AIP's journal publishing program and publishing services operation approximating $63M in total revenue.

Haynes comes to AIP from the Royal Society of Chemistry where, as editorial director, he led new journal development and the establishment of international offices. Prior to that, Haynes was at the Institute of Physics Publishing, the publishing arm of the Institute of Physics in the UK. He served from 1992 to 2001 as publisher of an impressive suite of physics journals published by the IOPP, and from 2001 to 2007 as head of Business Development, earning an MBA along the way.

Haynes began his career as a research chemist with a PhD from the University of British Columbia, followed by a distinguished postdoctoral fellowship at Oxford sponsored by the Canadian National Research Council.

Haynes succeeded Darlene Walters who retired in 2008.
